To capture the new market, Nike released the Nike Dunk – a sneaker specifically for college basketball teams sponsored by Nike. These first releases were all part of the “Be True To Your School” collection. Each basketball team will receive Dunk corresponding to their team’s color.
The original Nike Dunk design was heavily inspired by the sneakers of the time, mainly the Air Force 1. And the result was a stripped-down version of chunky soccer shoes. basket was born. However, unlike the Air Jordan 1 and Air Force 1 at that time, Nike Dunk was brought in more colorful colors with a variety of different colorways being released.
At this rate, it feels like besides every Dunk Low colorway Nike releases, the brand is also tapping into its energy by crafting it in a more premium version. We saw this with reborn “Be True to your School” colorways like “Kentucky”, “Syracuse”, and now the Nike Dunk Low “Goldenrod” gets its moment. Let’s explore with Storepc about these sneakers.
Inspired by the Dunks “Iowa Hawkeyes” colorway from Swoosh’s 1985 “Be True to Your School” collection and the 1999 “Wu-Tang” colorway, the style-focused version of the sneaker. This way of life is embellished with the color “Goldenrod”. This distinctive color covers areas on the upper such as the Swooshes logo, inner lining, laces and heel.
Besides, covering the remaining parts of the shoe such as the toe box, shoe cheek, collar, tongue and Nike branding on the heel is a uniform black tone. Finally, the combination of pure white midsole and dark yellow outsole completes the classic look of this shoe.
As of right now, we don’t know exactly when these sneakers will be released but Nike is likely to release this version in the coming months for a regular retail price of $100 USD.
