Adidas Originals introduced the iconic Stan Smith shoe with a golf-inspired look at this year’s 2020 Ryder Cup. The Adidas Stan Smith is a pair of tennis shoes produced by Adidas, first introduced in 1965. Originally named “Adidas Robert Haillet”, the brand confirmed the signing of the famous athlete. Frenchman Robert Haillet, who changed his name to American tennis player Stan Smith in 1978, has now landed on a new course, golf and equipment. Design inspiration comes from the discipline itself.

Adidas shoes are usually made with a white leather upper and laces with a simple design. Unlike most Adidas shoes, there are no three-stripes on the outside. Instead, each shoe has three rows of perforations (or perforated vents) on either side of the leather upper. Let’s take a look at the design style of this pair of Stan Smith shoes.

The adidas Originals Stan Smith Golf Shoe debuted with a spiked rubber outsole, perforated PU insole and midsole for extra cushioning support. The all-white upper remains unchanged, while a polka-dot pattern wraps the midsole, contrasting with the pink patch on the sole.

A mottled print accents the sole, and “Dairyland Golf Club” is printed on the top of the tongue, a nod to Wisconsin’s “America’s Dairyland” moniker. The shoe fabric is made from recycled fabric, and the waterproof protection layer keeps your feet dry.
